Alternate TRTER 2025

January 20, 2025

Due to Marlette Dam reconstruction and Flume pipe replacement projects TRTER is not able to set up infrastructure in order to fully operate in the Spooner Backcountry. Therefore we are unable to host the 100 Mile and 100K, in 2025.

Please join us for the ALT-50K course and a new 14 Mile course on July 19th instead. Registration will open February 1, 2025 at 12:00 AM PT. REGISTER ON ULTRASIGNUP.

The ALT-50K course will be much like our planned 50K, minus the loop around Marlette Peak. Starting from the John L Harvey Baseball Stadium at Western Nevada College, the course goes up Ash Canyon road to Snow Valley Peak. From there, down the Tahoe Rim Trail to the Laxalt Junction and then a hard right onto the Capital 2 Tahoe Trail to the Waterfall aid station and back down Ash Canyon trail to the baseball stadium for a big, fun finish line party at our famous Ultra Lounge.

Mileage should come in very close to 30 miles. There will be two aid stations with only water and EFS electrolyte drink, and two full service aid stations approximately at Mile 8 and Mile 16 (same aid station), and Mile 23 Waterfall aid station. Then a seven mile push to the finish.

The 14 Miler will be an out-and-back from the baseball stadium up the Ash to Kings Trail to the Waterfall aid station and back to the Finish Line and Ultra Lounge Party.

Important note to consider on the 50K! Locations for the two main aid stations are in very remote, very difficult aid stations to get to. There can be no drops at all! If you feel the big 4200 ft climb at the start is going to be a huge challenge, I highly recommend doing the 14 mile option this year. The cutoff for the 50K is 10 hours. There will be a hard 3 hour cutoff at the Kick Ash aid station at 5.5 miles. You will be turned around if not there by then.

The finish Line Ultra Lounge will be a trail running party, with foot baths, food truck, The Fox brewery beer, Hoch Family Creamery ice cream and EV and the Electric Soup for live music entertainment. Because not every runner doing the 100 mile or 100K gets a chance to experience the Ultra Lounge without being wasted after a huge effort. This will be a great opportunity to have a good time at the Ultra Lounge, come join the FUN!!!

IMPORTANT TRTER 2025 ANNOUNCEMENT

January 16, 2025

I regret to inform you that the 50K 100K and 100 Mile races will not be held this year due to a major backcountry project in Spoon Lake Nevada State Park. Due to the reconstruction of the Marlette Dam and the flume pipeline this summer, Spooner Lake Backcountry will be closed to the public. Without permitted vehicle access to the backcountry we are unable to construct and host our famous aid stations.

I have exhausted every option and there is no way to guarantee that the 2025 TRTER races can proceed in July. This organization takes great pride in the quality and care we put into every detail of this event and it is heartbreaking to cancel due to circumstances beyond our control.

THE GOOD NEWS

Yes, there is GOOD NEWS! Instead of the 50K, 100K and 100 Mile events, you are invited to a Trail Running Party on Saturday, July 19th, 2025! Several shorter races on the east side of the range will be offered and the party will go on. Races will start and finish in the John L. Harvey Baseball Field at WNC with a fun finish line party at the Ultra Lounge with live music, food truck, Hoch Family Creamery ice cream and Beer!

Information and course details will follow soon with registration for the races opening February 1st on UltraSignUp.

I have delayed making this announcement until all avenues were explored and all alternatives exhausted. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you can join us for a Trail Running Day of Celebration on July 19th!

Please keep TRT Endurance Races on your calendar — next year we plan on an even better TRTER!

TRTER 50K 100K 100M Logo

Greetings, Registration for the Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs 2025 events has moved to January 20th at 8am, PST. It will be an open registration without a lottery or a wait list. The 100 Mile qualifications will still apply.

A major public works project is scheduled this summer for the Marlette Lake dam and there are plans to restrict public access to specific areas of Spooner Lake Park which may impact our ability to build and staff our backcountry aid stations. I am working closely with Nevada State Park officials and the project managers to develop a race plan that accommodates their project needs and our need for backcountry access. Final decisions will be made over the next few weeks and we are delaying registration until we have final approval. I apologize for any inconvenience this registration delay may cause. Our intention is to have another epic TRTER event in 2025 complete with deluxe backcountry aid stations and the new 100K course.

Thank you for your patience and do not hesitate to reach out to me or our Registration Director, Angela Sullivan, if you have any questions or concerns. trtgoddess@gmail.com.

I hope you have a happy holiday season!

November 25, 2024

TRTER 100K replaces the 56M event in 2025

Looking for a 100K to qualify for Western States? — TRTER has you covered! It wasn’t hard to find a few extra miles on our trail network to upgrade the 56 miler to a 100K. Plus, participants who finish before the 20 hour mark get a Western States qualifier.
